Palma Superyacht Show 2018 to present best ever line-up

By Rebecca Bradbury   19 April 2018

The upcoming sixth edition of the Palma Superyacht Show will bring together an impressive fleet of 80 plus luxury yachts, an expanded exhibitor area and dedicated refit and repair services when it gets underway in Palma, Mallorca, on Friday 27 April.

Marking the start of the Mediterranean cruising season, the five-day Palma Superyacht Show has built a reputation for showcasing a diverse selection of superyachts, available for both sale and charter, and the 2018 event will be no different.

With over 80 yachts signed up to attend, the show will showcase more vessels than ever before and, in particular, there will be a significant number of sailing yachts on display.

The largest yacht at the show will be the 54m/179ft charter yacht ‘Shenandoah of Sark’, a classic three-masked schooner built in 1902. Recalling the majesty of a bygone era, she is a guaranteed head-turner, wowing with her mixture of traditional elegance and modern comforts.

Another attendee evoking days gone by is the 40m/131ft sailing yacht RAINBOW, a 2012 replica of the original J Class yacht that beat ENDEAVOUR to defend the America’s Cup in 1934. The new model from Holland Jachtbouw combines the stunning lines of the original with innovative technology for the ultimate performance.

Motor yachts will not in short supply, however. The 52m/170ft charter yacht TOMMY from Benetti will be the second largest yacht exhibiting and will no doubt be attracting much attention from the 40,000 plus visitors expected to be in Palma for the show.

Although the highlight of the show will be the fleet of superyachts, there will also be professionals from around 30 influential brokerage houses on hand, as well as an increased number of the industry’s leading service and equipment companies exhibiting in an expanded stand area.

Likewise, the second edition of the Refit and Repair area will feature 25 percent more stands in comparison to last year’s event. This section of the show is targeted at industry professional and reflects Mallorca and the wider region's status as a hub for yacht servicing.

There will also be a new temporary bridge connecting the STP shipyard to the city’s iconic fisherman dock to improve the flow of visitors and their viewing experience.
