After a two-year absence the MYBA Charter Show finally opened its doors to industry professionals at the OneOcean Port Vell in Barcelona yesterday, marking the start of five days of yacht viewings, crew competitions and glamorous social events.
The show began on Sunday at 9.30am in the Catalonian capital with the 22 superyachts in attendance welcoming aboard show-goers for exclusive yacht viewings.
There are a number of standout superyachts attending the MYBA Charter Show 2022, including the sleek 82m (271ft) Abeking and Rasmussen yacht SECRET boasting a raft of excellent amenities and state-of-the-art features. She also comes equipped with a highly-talented on board Chef who will no doubt be taking part in the Chefs’ Competition throughout the show.
Another highlight at the show is brand new entrant to the charter fleet, 72m (237ft) superyacht STELLA MARIS, who’s head-turning Espen Øino exteriors are sure to wow industry show goers, along with her expansive beach club complete with sea terraces with access to dedicated spa and wellness facilities.
Another star turn comes in the form of another new entrant, the 65m (215ft) Benetti custom-designed yacht Triumph, delivered at the tail end of last year and already proving a big hit on the charter scene. Showcasing elegant ocean-inspired interiors penned by Green & Mingarelli Design in collaboration with Benetti's in-house design team, she offers a wealth of crowd-pleasing features from bow to stern.
On top of yacht viewings, the show also has a vibrant social programme, which kicked off with the Captain’s Dinner last night. Plus, today marks the start of the highly-anticipated Chefs’ Competition.
This year, competing chefs are challenged to create a Mediterranean Beach Picnic comprising 4 plates (plus one to be photographed) which showcase their creative and innovative talents in creating a range of delectable dishes to be enjoyed at a beach picnic, with the Chief Steward/ess’ challenged to create a complemetary signature beach cocktail.
In addition to the yacht viewings, there will be an array of social events designed to facilitate networking and foster connections while at the show – both in and around Ocean Port Vell – alongside a selection of industry-focused seminars.
The show rounds up with a prize-giving ceremony on the evening of Thursday 28 April, culminating in the show’s highly anticipated Quay Party finale.
