5 of the best superyachts attending the MYBA Charter Show 2018

Alfa Nero

The 81m/266ft superyacht ‘Alfa Nero’ is not only the largest yacht signed up to attend the upcoming event but also the most iconic. With her jet black hull, strong exterior lines and inviting aft deck pool, she is a guaranteed head-turner and easily one of the ‘must-visit’ yachts of the show.

Alongside her pedigree Oceanco build quality, the 2007 launch is bestowed with interior styling from Alberto Pinto. The late, world-renowned designer created a pop art-inspired haven with bold touches of colour, texture and form, and exceptional attention to detail.

Then there are the open, airy and irresistibly stylish deck areas, which effortlessly appear to be at one with the sea. Sure to be the daytime hub of any private yacht charter is the expansive aft deck complete with a pool, sun-loungers, a bar and sumptuous seating. Relaxation can continue into the spa facilities.

Planet Nine

After hitting the water in January, the 73m/240ft expedition yacht ‘Planet Nine’ will be making her yacht show debut at the MYBA Charter Show. As such, she is expected to be extremely popular among attendees, especially as only renderings of her interior have been released so far.

As the work of the celebrated designer Tim Heywood and built by Admiral Yachts to be one of the world’s leading explorer yachts, she has certainly been the source of much excitement. Equipped with a helicopter, hangar and helipad, she is definitely well-equipped for go-anywhere adventures.

Her naval-inspired profile will make her impossible not to miss lined up in the Barcelona marina while, hidden within, is a plethora of luxurious facilities such as a large cinema, a luxe beach club, a steam room and sauna, and an observation lounge with 180-degree views. 

Haida 1929

The elegant and majestic 71m/233ft classic yacht ‘Haida 1929’ will also be attracting no end of attention when she arrives at the show. The clipper bow yacht was originally launched in 1929 and, after an extensive refit at Pendennis shipyard, she returned to the charter fleet just a few months ago.

Much of the appeal lies in her elusive classic charm, which extends beyond that of her exterior. Artworks and furniture sourced from the 1920s and 1930s adorn the interior, yet they are seamlessly allied with the latest superyacht comforts and amenities.

Among the modern features are a spa, Hamman and gym equipment, whereas a fabulous barbers adds a quirky, vintage element. On deck, meanwhile, a raised pool and barbecue area are set forward of the imposing funnel on the sundeck and a shaded terrace forms part of the large master suite.

Joy

Returning to the industry event for the second year in a row is the 70m/230ft charter yacht JOY. Boasting exceptional Feadship craftsmanship, an exterior design from Bannenberg & Rowell and an award-winning interior from Studio Indigo, she will once again be one of the most sought-after yachts at the show.

She is particularly well-suited to charterers who value spending time outdoors and getting together with their families. A terrace that stretches forward of the master suite is large enough for a game of basketball while the huge beach club offers the ultimate daytime hangout.

Studio Indigo, meanwhile, was asked to create an interior that was ‘unique’ and ‘non-boat like’. Up to 250 finishes have been employed, endowing each area with its own distinct character but ensuring a constant connection to the ocean remains throughout.

Liquid Sky

Also appearing at her first-ever yacht show is the 47m/154ft motor yacht ‘Liquid Sky’. Launched by Turkish yard CMB Yachts in August 2017, she is a new charter addition and, well-primed for both entertainment and relaxation, she is sure to be a highlight of the 2018 edition.

From the boardwalks, her sleek exterior lines and curvy fixed side balconies designed by renowned naval architect Espen Oeino will tempt show-goers aboard, where a luxe, open sundeck with a pool and swim-up bar, a large beach club and an upper deck alfresco dining area will continue to captivate.

This is not forgetting the luxurious beach house-style interior put together by Arte-Bel Design Studio. Oak wood, bronze accents and light-tone fabrics have been used to create a tranquil retreat, enhanced by extensive glazing and state-of-the-art entertainment systems.
