Luxury superyachts gear up for the 2022 Cannes Film Festival

Heading up the jury this year will be Vincent Lindon, the Best Actor Winner from 2015, who follows in the footsteps of last year’s jury leader, the Oscar-winning director Spike Lee. 

Alongside cinematic premieres showcasing a raft of hot new talent, Hollywood is also making a comeback, with Out of Competition films such as Top Gun: Maverick and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis set to seduce audiences and cinephiles alike.

Adding to the glitz and glamor of the iconic festival will be a whole host of superyachts jostling for a space along the coveted Jetée Albert Edouard, located a mere champagne cork’s pop away from the official venue of the Palais des Festivals.

Soaking up the star-studded surrounds and wowing with an array of corporate charter events, the festival is the perfect backdrop for superyachts, playing host to a raft of exclusive parties peppered with Hollywood ingénues and veterans taking part in the glittering event this year.

Another new entrant on the charter fleet is 43m (143ft) CRN yacht BEHIKE whose luxe deck areas, beautiful interior styling and wealth of modern amenities are sure to please even the most discerning guest.

Meanwhile, a yacht that is no stranger to this illustrious event is the 49m (161ft) yacht LA DEA II, built by the esteemed American yard Trinity. Spread across three decks, she features a range of alfresco dining and social spaces, including her sprawling top deck and large waterside beach club area, and comes equipped with a dazzling array of on-board activities and water sports, presenting the ideal charter platform for luxurious event charters.

With the Mediterranean superyacht season starting to heat up, there are plenty of other yachts to be spotted in the surrounding area. A host of charter yachts are also berthed in Port Pierre Canto, which sits on the other side of the bay, connected to Vieux Port by the famous Boulevard de la Croisette – home to designer stores, world-class hotels and beaches – as well as numerous yachts anchored out in the glittering Bay of Cannes.

New for 2022, festival-goers will be transported to the red carpet steps by a fleet of 100% electric BMWs, where crowds will be out in droves to celebrate this year’s full in-person event, after a curtailed couple of years due to the pandemic. 

Whether it’s the shiny superyachts gleaming under the Mediterranean sun or the flashing lights of the paparazzi swarming the red carpet, the 2022 Cannes Film Festival is set to dazzle this year.
