Heesen's 55m superyacht SOLEMATES delivered and available for charter

By Katia Damborsky   17 August 2020

Formerly known as Project Castor and  YN 19055, the 55m /180ft motor yacht SOLEMATES is now getting ready to charter in East Mediterranean hotspots including Croatia and Montenegro.

The second yacht to see delivery from Heesen since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, SOLEMATES has been handed over to her new Owners and is currently undertaking her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.

She will be available for private yacht charter in the region, and her innovative layout and high-volume interiors mean she is expected to be popular for the remainder of the summer season.

On-board highlights include bespoke interiors from renowned design studio Bannenberg & Rowell and a huge sundeck with jacuzzi, sunpads, bar and lounge chairs.

Accommodation is provided for a total of 12 guests in six staterooms, spread across three decks.

She boasts an enormous 82-square metre Owner's suite with a study, private his-and-hers walk-in wardrobes and a bathroom with separate shower and bathtub.  The VIP cabin can be found on the bridge deck, while the remaining cabins are positioned on the lower deck.

Luxury yacht SOLEMATES plays host to a sizeable beach club with wellness area and generous swim platform. To maximize the space to the fullest, the yacht's tenders are stored in the forward portion of the hull.

According to Heesen, Solemates exceeded her contract speed and range during her two-day pre-delivery sea trial.

She sports a specialized 'fast-displacement hull form', which has been pioneered by Dutch hydrodynamicists van Oossanen and further developed by Heesen's in-house naval architects and engineers. This hull form offers low-drag, which combined with modest MTU engines of just 1000 kW each, makes the yachts in Heesen's 55-metre Steel class among the most efficient of their size class.

As previously stated, Solemates is the second Heesen yacht to be delivered since the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis.

"We adopted drastic measures early on, following Dutch government guidelines, both in our production processes and in the offices," explains Rick van de Wetering, Heesen's Chief Operating Officer. "So we managed to introduce the necessary social distancing and were able to carry on our work with as little disruption as possible."
