East Med Yacht Show 2018 gets underway

By Rebecca Bradbury   3 May 2018

The 17th edition of the East Med Yacht Show opened its doors to yacht brokers earlier today, marking the start of four days of yacht viewings at Marina Zeas in Piraeus, Greece.

A diverse fleet of crewed superyachts is lined up port-side in Piraeus, looking resplendent in the Greek sunshine and welcoming industry brokers from across the world aboard for private tours ahead of an official opening ceremony this evening.

Tomorrow will then see other yachting professionals, including media representatives, join in the proceedings as the exhibition area opens, enabling marine-related companies and luxury brands to showcase their products and services.

The aim of the show is to provide brokers with an extensive insight into the yachts available for charter in Greece this coming summer. By meeting captains and crews, and undertaking yacht tours, brokers are better equipped to match their clients with a suitable charter option.

Turning heads already is the 72m/236ft charter yacht SERENITY, the largest yacht in attendance. Built by Austal, she will be showing off her new refit to show-goers, as well as her large sundeck pool and expansive deck areas, which are perfectly primed for events and corporate charters.

Another yacht renowned for her vast exterior spaces is the 55m/180ft charter yacht ‘Harmony V’. Indeed, this Piraeus launch is able to accommodate 49 guests in 25 cabins and boasts alluring features such as a sundeck mini-spa and a dining area able to seat all those staying on board.

Sure to catch the attention of show-goers due to her striking black hue is the 40m/130ft motor yacht O’PATI from Golden Yachts. Able to reach an impressive top speed of 32 knots, she is perfect for zipping between the Greek islands while providing the utmost comfort and style.

A number of sailing yachts are also on display, including the 41m/135ft classic yacht ‘Sir Winston Churchill’, originally built by Dunston Shipyard in 1966, and the 36m/116ft luxury gulet ‘Iraklis L’ from Onar.

Alongside displaying vessels available for Greece yacht charters this summer, the East Med Yacht Show also aims to promote quality sea tourism, improve Greece’s position on the global tourism market, establish Piraeus as an international tourism destination and launch partnerships with foreign institutions.

For more details on any of the above yachts, speak to your preferred charter broker.
