88.5m explorer yacht 'Olivia O' relaunched after outfitting

By Katia Damborsky   20 January 2020

Built in Norway by commercial shipyard Ulstein Verf, the 88.5m/ 290ft motor yacht 'Olivia O' has been relaunched in Malta following extensive outfitting by Italian shipyard Palumbo.

Characterized by her distinctive reverse bow and rugged explorer-style profile, Olivia O is set to be one of the most exciting deliveries of 2020.

She was built by Norwegian yard Ulstein Verft, a shipbuilder that is better known for its commercial ferries and workboats.

The yacht underwent sea trials in August 2018. The bare hull was delivered shortly after, and taken to the Palumbo yard in Malta for painting, fairing and outfitting. She has since been relaunched from Palumbo's dry dock.

Benefits of the X-Bow

It is believed to be the first time that Ulstein Verft's trademarked X-bow has appeared on a superyacht. The innovative design has been developed for improved seakeeping by reducing pitching during high swells and piercing smaller waves, allowing for increased on-board comfort at faster speeds.

The 4,989 GT expedition yacht features exterior styling from Ulstein Verft in collaboration with esteemed designer Espen Oeino. On-deck highlights include a commercially-rated helipad, a 10-metre pool and a full-beam tender garage amidships that has been designed to be operational during inclement weather conditions.

Her interiors have also been helmed by Espen, working with Droulers Architecture. Her interiors follow a Japanese theme, with plenty of wood, textures and pale colours. Oriental accents are offset by metal surfaces, giving her a polished finish.

It is not yet known whether Olivia O will become available for private yacht charters
