58m Feadship superyacht W redelivered after 10 month refit

By Katia Damborsky   20 July 2020

Originally launched as Larisa seven years ago, the 57.6m (189') motor yacht W has been handed over to her Owners after returning to the Feadship yard for a full-scale refit.

Now sporting a new grey hull and an additional stateroom, W has been handed over to her Owners after a 10-month labour of love with Feadship.

The yacht underwent post-project sea trials in the North Sea before being redelivered last week. It comes seven years after she was originally delivered as superyacht LARISA in 2013.

For the Owner, selecting Feadship to undertake the refit was the clear choice. "Owning a Feadship gives one an enormous sense of pride and I am convinced that the only way to retain full Feadship pedigree is to access the formidable talents and capabilities of the entire Feadship organisation.

"It was wonderful to be able to bring her back to the Netherlands and know that she would be upgraded by many of the same people that actually created her seven years ago. No one in the world knows a Feadship like the people that actually built her and that shows in the exceptional results of this refit project.”

As well as her sleek new look and extra cabin, the refit focused on some impressive technical upgrades. She was a given a new stablisation system, new bridge electronics and an additional generator. Fresh paintwork, styling and LED lighting feature throughout, alongside modern new AV systems.

Her lounge area was also overhauled and given a fresh new look, and her sundeck has been redesigned with a much larger jacuzzi and new furniture layout. One of her dayheads has been converted into a full bathroom and she now has provision for a much larger selection of water toys and accessories.

The Owner is delighted that the end result does not look like a refit – you really would feel that W was built this way in the first place.

Project manager Hans van der Wiel

The refit intended to better reflect how her Owner likes to enjoy life at sea. “After buying W in 2019 I set out to not only refit my newly acquired Feadship to my specific requirements but to also renew her in every possible respect while ensuring that she remained 100% a Feadship." He explains.

The Owner was keen to ensure his yacht maintained the Feadship pedigree that the Dutch yard is so well-renowned for.

“The owner and his team are very pleased with the final result,” says project manager Hans van der Wiel. “They asked for a wide array of additional activities to be carried out once the project was underway confident that this would be money well spent. And the owner is delighted that the end result does not look like a refit – you really would feel that W was built this way in the first place.”

The refit work took place between the yard's Aalsmeer and Makkum facilities, which demonstrates Feadship's ability to work seamlessly across multiple locations and co-ordinate different teams.

Alongside a successful redelivery, the yard has also implemented a successful COVID-19 secure working system for workers across all of their shipyards. While the delivery date of luxury yacht W was pushed back slightly, the yard deemed it necessary to ensure workers could operate in shifts and adhere to the all the latest safety rules and regulations.

Superyacht W is not expected to join the world of private yacht charter anytime soon. However, if you have your heart set on a signature Feadship quality yacht, you can view and compare the complete fleet of Feadship superyachts for charter.
