The 70th International Venice Film Festival will be organised by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera.
The main aim of the Venice Film Festival is to raise awareness of the film industry and to promote the various apsects of international cinema, including homage to some of the major figures in cinema, and 2013 will stay true to these values.
However, there will be a few changes this year: A new Grand Jury Prize for films screening in the Venezia 70 section, two new prizes for the Orizzonti section (Best Director and Innovative Content), and nine jury members have been set for Venezia 70 and seven jury members for the Orizzonti and Opera Prima sections. The Venice Classics section has also been confirmed (restored films and documentaries about cinema),
The 2013 screenings schedule is set to include 11 days of programming from late August to early September in Venice.
