Antigua, Caribbean

18 - 22 Feb 2019

By Rebecca Bradbury

A 'must-do' for any serious off-shore sailor, the RORC Caribbean 600 will return in 2019 for its 11th edition.

This February, scores of sailing yachts and hundreds of world-class sailors will once again descend on Antigua ready to embark on the thrilling 600-mile race around the Caribbean.

Departing from English Harbour, the armada of competitors will head north as far as St Martin and back southwards towards Guadeloupe, taking in Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Saba and St Barts along the way.

Last year, a record fleet of 84 yachts competed in the regatta, while the overall winner – George David’s American Maxi Rambler 88 - set a new monohull course record of 37 hours 41 minutes and 45 seconds.

Now in its 11th year, the off-shore race has significantly grown in stature since its inception. The fleet grows year-on-year, with America’s Cup and Olympic winners among the world-class sailors in attendance.

A prize-giving ceremony at the Antigua Yacht Club will conclude proceedings on the final evening of the regatta. Winners will be presented with an array of silverware, medallions and decanters, and there will be a celebratory party.
