Palais des Festivals, Cannes
14 - 25 May 2019
Bringing even more glitz and glamour to the French Riviera, the Cannes Film Festival – or Festival de Cannes – will shine the spotlight on film stars and superyachts alike when it returns for its 72nd edition in May 2019.
Arguably the most prestigious film festival in the world, the annual Cannes Film Festival is a glittering celebration of cinema. The event will, as always, draw the biggest names in the film industry to Cannes for 11 days of movie screenings, red carpet action and exclusive parties.
The Festival de Cannes has remained faithful to its founding purpose: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films. A panel of judges, last year headed up by Cate Blanchett, awards a number of prizes to the top films premiered at the event. This year, Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu will head up the jury.
The highest prize is the famous Palme d’Or which, in 2018, went to Japanese family drama Shoplifters. The revealing of this accolade is always a highlight of the star-studded event.
As A-listers, models and VIPs walk the red carpet and climb the iconic 24 steps up to the Palais des Festivals to view the latest film premieres, the paparazzi are out in full force and a spectacular fleet of superyachts can be spotted lined up nearby in the Old Port of Cannes.
Indeed, the most luxurious way to experience this world-class spectacle is on a Cannes Film Festival yacht charter. Renting a luxury yacht is the ideal way to see and be seen during the event, and it will enable you and your charter party to soak up the electric atmosphere in the utmost style.
Opt for a charter yacht designed for entertaining and you will be able to host a lavish superyacht party or a fine dining experience. Some may prefer, however, to have a more private, personal experience by anchoring off the coast of Cannes and making their way ashore by tender.
The festival is also an ideal opportunity to undertake a corporate charter. To wow all your clients, contacts and connections, berth in the Old Port or Port Pierre Canto and use your yacht as a base for conducting meetings and doing business.
Competition for berths and charter yachts during the festival is extremely high, so make sure you book well in advance. It also kicks off the Mediterranean yacht charter season. For more information, speak to your preferred charter broker.
