Yacht Charter Fleet takes a closer look at ‘Lauren L’ as part of a special series of reviews following the Antigua Charter Yacht Show.
One of the largest yachts available in the global charter fleet, the 90m/295ft superyacht ‘Lauren L’ certainly stands out from the crowd. Yet, as Yacht Charter Fleet discovered, it’s her prolific charter offer that’s most spectacular.
Superyacht ‘Lauren L’ began life in 2002 as a 100-passenger cruise vessel. Built by the German shipyard Cassens-Werth, she was extensively refitted just two years later, switching from commercial to private use. But it wasn’t until 2007, when she changed hands for the third time, that she entered the charter market and underwent a number of renovations that are still visible today.
As well as extending the length of the motor yacht by five feet, the work also saw the relocation of the helideck from the stern to the bow, the reconfiguration of the guest cabins, and the expansion of the top deck to add a new health and beauty spa.
What did not change, however, was the capacity for Lauren L to entertain on an unprecedented scale. At sea she can accommodate an impressive total of 40 guests in 20 staterooms, while dockside she is able to welcome up to 300 people on board.
Indeed, the luxury yacht is perfect for a variety of event charters, a selection of which the Yacht Charter Fleet team was luckily enough to sample at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show.
One highlight was an invite to an exclusive five-course lunch with Captain Brent Chapman served upon the yacht’s vast upper deck alfresco dining area. Although this space is capable of comfortably seating 40 guests, it also worked well for a more intimate gathering as Yacht Charter Fleet experienced.
There are five chefs working on board Lauren L all with their own individual specialisms, meaning a wide range of cuisines can be served to charter guests. Head Chef Andrew McCarthy was behind Yacht Charter Fleet’s special food tasting and his menu presented a fusion of cooking styles.
At sea Lauren L can accommodate an impressive total of 36 guests in 20 staterooms, while dockside she is able to welcome up to 300 people on board.
The starter comprised a rich chicken and fois gras ravioli served with citrus emulsion and tea jus, and was followed by a fish course of sashimi of mirin-seared yellow fin tuna with apple and avocado dressing.
The main dish took the form of Antiguan lobster tail confit in ginger butter with miso greens and udon noodles. A mango carpaccio and raspberry sorbet accompanied by mint and sake acted as a palette cleanser before a desert of brioche stack with chocolate mousse, salted caramel, crème fraiche and candied lemon was served.
Delicious homemade bread accompanied the meal throughout and the service from the professional crew, headed by Steward Susantha Marasinghe, was impeccable.
After dinner has been enjoyed, charter guests can step inside to the stately main salon complete with a grand piano and bar area. This space has recently undergone a complete overhaul. Lighter carpets and sofas in shades of cream and duck egg blue have replaced dated flooring and dark upholstery. The result is a much lighter, fresher and more contemporary feel.
Yacht Charter Fleet was welcomed back one evening for a Caribbean-themed party. Taking place on the yacht’s vast sundeck, the celebration kept a huge crowd entertained with a heavenly selection of canapes, refreshing cocktails and live music from the New York reggae band Art Ski Halperin.
The large central Jacuzzi was lit up for the occasion and the bar, located on the port side of the yacht, kept the drinks flowing all night. Before such a transformation, however, the sundeck provides the perfect outdoor living experience, with no-end of sun loungers, and a variety of different seating areas in which to unwind or socialise with family, friends and colleagues.

Indeed, luxury yacht Lauren L can also provide the perfect business environment for a corporate charter. There is a spacious conference room on the main deck with a large oval table at its centre and comfortable hide chairs. It’s also possible to convert this room into a cinema and the library makes an ideal meeting venue if a more informal setting is required.
Another main feature of the superyacht is her unrivalled health and beauty centre. Located on the sun deck, facilities include a beauty salon, steam room, sauna, aromatherapy room, massage room and full-sized gymnasium.
Qualified beauticians and masseuses form part of the 45-strong crew and ensure charter guests receive the highest quality of treatments.
Other distinguishing assets include a children’s playroom and a touch and go helipad, which allows guests to travel with comfort, speed and style.
She also features an impressive range of water toys including jet skis, a Seabob and Jet Surf Ultra Sport, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, surfboards, kite surfing equipment, a variety of towing toys, an inflatable slide and a flyboard.
The staterooms on board comprise of one master suite with a private office and balcony, one VIP suite, three double executive suites, 10 double cabins with an adjustable twin bed facility and five double suites.
Whether you wish to host glamorous parties or five-star dining, business meetings or relaxation retreats, Lauren L can offer the ultimate charter experience.
