Raja Ampat is characterized by the karsts that populate its many archipelagos, but nowhere else on the island will you find a karst formation quite like this one. Locally known as the ‘Laguna Bintang’ or 'Telaga Bintang', the karsts surrounding this crystal blue lagoon have broken up the water so that from a certain angle, it takes on the shape of a star.
Star Lagoon is located on Pianemo Island and is the perfect day out for the diving and hiking enthusiasts alike in your luxury charter party: since the water’s unique shape is only visible from ashore, start the day off with a short hike along the nearby trekking path up the hill while soaking up the warm Indonesian sun; after posing for photos at the top, cool off by jumping into the lagoon’s inviting clear waters.
Typical of the Coral Triangle region, Laguna Bintang is home to many different types of coral and colorful fishes, which are easily visible thanks to its clear waters. We recommend choosing a motor yacht that has snorkeling and diving gear, as well as kayaks and paddleboards so that you can make the most of these unique sights.
Be sure to take care when swimming here, however, as the water’s depth varies considerably. The benefit of this though is that it is possible for all of your charter guests to enjoy the warm waters given its suitability for a wider range of diving abilities.
