Situated in the Gulf of Oman, this 9-island archipelago is home to an incredible array of marine life– making it a must-see for any diving enthusiasts chartering in the Middle East or the Indian Ocean.
The Daymaniyat Islands have been a marine reserve since 1996, having only opened to the public in 2013. As such, the pristine archipelago remains relatively unknown; it is an ideal spot for those looking for a quiet, secluded getaway during their charter in the UAE where you can simply embrace the beautiful natural surroundings.
Being home to over 300 different fish species, it comes as no surprise that these islands are considered some of the best snorkeling and diving sites throughout the Middle East. Be sure to choose a luxury yacht charter with snorkeling and diving equipment so that you can swim with the dolphins and turtles, or marvel at the vibrant coral reefs in the islands' shallow waters.
The Daymaniyat Islands might have a plethora of marine species that will take your breath away, but they are most famous for the whale sharks who school there. They are the largest known fish species in the world, so you won’t want to pass up on the chance to swim with them: whale season typically runs from September to November, so we recommend visiting then, although you can still see them up until April.
Not a fan of snorkeling? The archipelago also boasts of immaculate white beaches where you can unwind and soak up the sunshine. Alternatively, grab a pair of binoculars and go bird watching.
Because the Daymaniyat Islands are known for their incredible biodiversity, the authorities are deeply committed to preserving its unpolluted waters. As such, only a few yachts per year are authorized to anchor there. If you are unable to anchor your motor yacht in the islands, then you can easily access the islands from Muscat where several companies offer diving tours. The archipelago is only a 45-minute boat ride away from Oman’s capital.
