It is hoped the long-awaited opening of the Island Gardens Deep Harbour marina this December will be a ground-breaking development for Miami’s luxury yacht charter industry, as North America’s first all-superyacht facility.
Already a popular destination for vacations due to its appealing sunshine hours and vibrant nightlife, Miami superyacht charters are expected to be significantly boosted when the marina opens its fifty berths later this year. The eagerly anticipated deep harbour will host vessels measuring over 400 feet (122 metres), coming at a price tag of approximately $25 million. Expectations are high that the new marina can cement it status as the ‘go-to’ destination for those cruising in northern America.
Nestled in the popular superyacht charter destination of Florida on Watson Island in Biscayne Bay, the multi-million dollar project is being developed by a property group and built by Technomarine Group, a custom marina building and design company who are continuously setting higher standards of marina innovation worldwide. Island Gardens will utilise Technomarine’s advanced floating dock system with state of the art mechanical, electrical, pumping, and in slip high speed fuelling (to name a few) to accommodate the most ultra-modern, high-tech spec vessels.
The 5,000 linear foot deep water marina is to comfortably accommodate an impressive array of mega-yachts from around the world, boasting space for 75 yachts between 100 and 550 feet, the most superyacht slips in South Florida. As the superyacht industry continues to grow and Miami develops prolifically to cater for affluent residents and guests, the new marina’s high-capacity is guaranteed to boast high-occupancy rates imminently due to the exclusivity offered for megayachts and their international owners and charterers.
Unique to Deep Harbour will be the angled designed docks to ensure unobstructed views towards downtown Miami so visitors can relax in optimal privacy and comfort without feeling congested or confined by other yachts. Along with full-service amenities including a marina lounge, water-taxi service and customs clearance, the project will also include two world-class hotels with 360-degree views, high end shopping boutiques, and restaurants with extensive waterfront dining – due for completion by 2018.
This spectacular project, will time its launch alongside the popular charter event of Art Basel Miami 2015, taking place from 3 to 6 December, to offer the perfect combination luxury to consumers and showcase the marina’s status as a hub for glamour and superyacht activity.
With Fort Lauderdale often lauded as “the yachting capital of the world,” boasting all-year round charter conditions and some of the most beautiful beaches and anchorages, Deep Harbour is guaranteed to open the door to a wealth of opportunity in the superyacht industry.
