Video: Lurssen floats 142m megayacht NORD for second time

By Katia Damborsky   7 September 2020

The 142m / 466ft gigayacht still officially known as OPUS and Project Redwood has been floated out for a second time, giving us a closer look at her twin helipads and unique Nuvolari Lenard design. Get a sneak peek at superyacht NORD now.

NORD has been seen in all her glory for the second time, after four weeks of sitting in the floating dock at Lurssen's facilities in Bremen.

She was pulled out via tugboat during heavy wind conditions last week. Photographer DrDuu was on the scene to bring us these first images.

NORD will make her way into the top 15 of the World’s Top 100 Yachts when she is delivered.

The pictures give us a proper look at her unique profile, which centres around a blunt bow, curved black lines on the aft and prominent wing stations. The footage also gives a better indication of her color contrasts; a white hull is offset by a light blue superstructure and matte black sections that give her an imposing and striking effect on the water.

This look is the work of Nuvolari Lenard, who also worked on the interior of NORD. The award-winning design studio has worked with Lurssen in the past, and it looks they've created another acclaimed design with NORD.

NORD is still officially known as OPUS, and her nameplate is yet to be unveiled to the world.

Key features of the 9250 GT yacht include double helipads- one on the foredeck and one on the upper deck aft. The latter features a built-in hangar space, creating a unique and innovative storage solution.

She was first announced as Project Redwood in 2015, and the yacht's bare hull was spotted on the move for the first time back in October 2018.

The motor yacht also features a large pool on the main deck aft and tender storage on the foredeck.

Similarly to most of Lurssen's projects, NORD has remained shrouded in secrecy throughout the build process. She was first announced as Project Redwood in 2015 and the yacht's bare hull was spotted on the move for the first time back in October 2018.

NORD will make her way into the top 15 of the World’s Top 100 Yachts when she is delivered, and she will be the third Lurssen yacht to see delivery this year after the 140m (459’) motor yacht SCHEHERAZADE and 87m (285’) motor yacht AVANTAGE.

It is not yet known whether M/Y NORD will become a luxury motor yacht for charter.
