Owner of 47m charter yacht 'Andromeda La Dea,' Buddy Darby, hopes the marina's opening will allow St Kitts to capitalise on the growth of the yachting industry in the East, as an increasing number of people look for new exotic destinations to visit on a luxury yacht charter. Furthermore, Darby hopes significantly reduced bunkering costs (due to the lack of duties on the import or sale of fuel), 24/7 security, provisioning services, state-of-the-art pedestals will make St Kitts the port of choice for many.
Christopher's Harbour already offers berths for freehold ownership, with the new development expected to lead to an increase in their popularity.
It has been reported that charter yachts including 46m Perini Navi sailing yacht ANTARA and 31m motor yacht 'Diamond Girl' are currently berthed at the marina, with the 11th largest yacht in the world, 138m Lurssen superyacht 'Rising Sun' also spotted anchored off the island.
