The 37th edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival wrapped-up last weekend on a high after attracting more than 50,000 visitors and displaying an impressive line-up of luxury yachts.

With an increase in international exhibitors compared to last year, coming in from 34 countries and unveiling more than 100 world premieres for their yachts, the 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival can be considered an all-round resounding success. The annual superyacht meeting this year benefited from a re-name (previously known as Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes) and a re-brand which saw a number of exciting new partnerships with leading lifestyle brands.

One of these new partnerships was with Galeries Lafayette who hosted a fashion show by the VIP pontoon while French designer Lise Charmel, dressed the welcome hostesses and famed Parisian tea shop Ladurée served macaroons and ice cream to visitors. This all contributed to an added sense of luxury that complimented to the yachts, presenting the entire lifestyle experience that goes along with yachting.

There were 550 boats in total on display, ranging from 5m tenders to 55m luxury superyachts and included a selection from the global charter fleet such as the 55m motor yacht ‘Ocean Paradise’, the 50m Amels-built ‘TJ Esperanza’  and the 49m superyacht ‘Mim’. As one of Europe’s leading in-water yacht shows, the Cannes Yachting Festival has established a reputation for attracting an international crowd of visitors and industry professionals. Every September, the industry’s leading brokerages and shipyard’s present a selection of their latest CA’s and models and this year was bigger and better than ever. It was specifically noted this year that the quality of yachts and number of serious potential buyers is what makes the show stand out from others.

Jean-Paul Chapeleau, General Manager of Jeanneau commented: “For us the Cannes Yachting Festival is a major event, I was surprised by the quality of visitors. For many years I have never seen so many Russians, Turks and Chinese visiting our boats and working with us. We are very happy to be here, we expect great results from this show to start the 2015 boating season.”
