Saudi Arabia welcomes yachts for its inaugural Grand Prix

By Nina Done   3 December 2021

After an heroic effort to complete the track in time for their first ever Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, the new Jeddah Corniche circuit is already being put through its paces by the Formula One drivers vying for pole position in what looks set to be one of the most nail-biting Grand Prix races in recent history.

The brand new marina, located near the ancient city of Jeddah, has been welcoming a veritable trove of luxury superyachts, who have all come to celebrate Saudi Arabia's first ever Grand Prix event, which is being held on the city's North Corniche Circuit over the coming weekend.

The event promises to be one of the most exciting Grand Prix's in recent history, with both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen unwilling to yield an inch in the drive of their lives for the championship title.

With two meetings left and only a few points separating them, everything is still to play for in this penultimate race.

Brand new marina

One of the most exciting corners on the track, turn 13 can be viewed Monaco-style from the decks of your superyacht in the newly developed Jeddah Yacht Club (JYC) marina, which has been built in record time in readiness for Saudi Arabia's inaugural F1 event.

The marina can accommodate over 100 yachts up to 120m (393ft) in length, and will serve as a convenient stop-off for yachts on their way to the celebrated destinations of the Indian Ocean and SouthEast Asia.

The JYC marina has also been recognised by Saudi officials as a port authority, meaning all immigration and customs can be dealt with on-site, including for foriegn-flagged vessels that wish to charter in the region.

Yacht club preview

Promising to be a world-class destination offering a range of spectacular amenities, including a 5,000m² club house, wellness centre and beach club featuring an infinity pool, the Jeddah Yacht Club will celebrate its grand opening in March 2022.

However, during the Grand Prix, special invite-only guests and VIPs will be able to preview the new yacht club, where an array of entertainment and hospitality will be laid on for their benefit throughout the event.
