It has been announced that the 56m/183 ft sailing yacht FIDELIS from Perini Navi will be available to explore Papua New Guinea and Indonesia's Raja Ampat this June.
Papua New Guinea and Indonesia's spectacular Raja Ampat archipelago are destinations which are rarely on the charter yacht itinerary, but starting this summer, the Perini Navi sailing yacht Fidelis will be welcoming intrepid guests on board to explore this exotic corner of the world.
Built in 2011 and refurbished in 2016, Fidelis accommodates up to ten guests in five staterooms, which is a rare feat for a ketch.
The sailing yacht features an uncluttered deck for making the most out outdoor living, and boasts elegant exterior dining and a charming sun-deck complete with a choice of relaxation spots. She also plays host to a recessed spa pool and a spacious swim platform.
Stepping inside, guests will be impressed by the yacht's sophisticated interiors, which embody warm neutrals contrasted by gleaming dark woods and espresso accents.
Both Papua New Guinea and the Raja Ampat islands are high on the 'must-see' lists of anyone interested in scuba diving or snorkelling, with abundant marine life and colourful coral reefs to discover.
The Raja Ampat archipelago, lying off the northwest coast of Indonesia's West Papua, is comprised of more than 1500 small, jungle-covered islands with white sandy beaches, set in shimmering turquoise waters; the very image of the mystical tropical paradise.
Both Papua New Guinea and the Raja Ampat islands are high on the 'must-see' lists of anyone interested in scuba diving or snorkelling.
The islands are sparsely populated, but are home to a wide variety of marine and bird life while the surrounding coral reefs, made up of around 550 distinct species, are sure to entrance even the most experienced of scuba divers. The clear, shallow water close to shore is also ideal for snorkelling.
Besides the stunning corals, the sea around these islands provides a habitat for five species of shark as well as manta rays, barracudas, angelfish, seahorses and endemic marine life such as the Papuan garden eel, only discovered in 2010. It's no wonder that Raja Ampat is such a prized destination for underwater photographers.
Adventurers will be in their element in Papua New Guinea, which remains one of the world's least explored regions, and offers a rich variety of landscapes and wildlife spread across its many islands, atolls and coral reefs. Unique diving opportunities abound, too, and wreck diving is particularly popular, with numerous ships and fighter planes from World War II to discover.
Papua New Guinea is also home to fascinating ancient indigenous cultures, and a trip inland to the Highlands to attend a traditional tribal festival of dancing, music and colourful costumes is a truly rewarding experience. You may also spot other local residents such as tree kangaroos, wallabies, anteaters and more than 40 species of birds of paradise.
