Palmer Johnson Expedition Yacht PIONEER Adventures to Alaska

By Rebecca Bradbury   30 January 2017

The recently refitted 46m/151ft superyacht PIONEER will be available for off-the-beaten track charters in the wild wilderness of Alaska this summer.

A go-anywhere explorer, PIONEER was originally delivered in 1996 by Palmer Johnson and, after finishing an extensive refit in summer 2016, has been cruising the Caribbean and New England. Now she is to adventure further afield to the remote waters of Alaska.

Engineered for long distance cruising, she features an impressive nautical range of more than 8,000 miles as well as beautifully updated interior and deck areas, which offer incredible comfort, the upmost luxury and the latest amenities.

A private yacht charter to the northwest American state promises an epic backdrop of snow-capped mountains, glaciers and icebergs, against which brown bears catch wild salmon, bald eagles soar overhead and humpback whales frolic in the unspoilt waters.

Discover the pine-clad forests and misty fjords of Ketchikan, meet the local Tlingit People on Baranof Island, wonder at the sublime beauty of the Glacier Bay National Park, be captivated by the natural springs of Chatham Strait and navigate through the narrow yet spectacular Tracy Arm Fjord.

All these magnificent destinations can be taken in from the chic deck areas aboard charter yacht PIONEER. One of her highlights is a split-level sundeck, which features a panoramic upper terrace, perfect for yoga and watching the sunset, and an alfresco dining and lounging area below.

After unwinding in the Jacuzzi or sipping champagne at the wet bar, head inside and experience the charm of her warm and welcoming classically-styled main salon. There is also a separate dining room for formal dinner parties and a gymnasium should you wish to keep up your exercise regime.

A whole host of water toys enable guests to explore the region from a different perspective. With a six-person performance sail boat and scuba diving equipment, there is never a dull moment on board.

Following a busy day on the water, guests can retreat into five elegant staterooms, including a full-beam master suite, which stretches across the breadth of the main deck forward, and two double cabins and two single cabins on the lower deck.
