Already up and running, Marina Port Vell in Barcelona is on schedule for its grand re-opening in October in time for the winter season.
Bought in 2010 by the Salamanca Group who intended to create a top superyacht destination, Port Vell is located next to the gothic quarter, right in the heart of Barcelona, within walking distance of museums, shops and restaurants. The new marina is set to become one of the world’s most elite superyacht locations making Barcelona and the Spanish Coast an even more popular charter destination.
The new superyacht hub will include 148 serviced berths for superyachts up to 120m in length. The managing director of Port Vell, Marcel Brekelmans, has experience in top hotels and the new marina promises high-end services that include VIP travel, assistance with restaurant bookings, entertainment and crew training. All nautical work will be finished by July with a 2,750 square metre yacht reception building and a new restaurant both set to be finished by the Autumn.
The grand opening is set to occur in October and to celebrate the Port is offering 50% off dock rental fees for superyachts that stay for more than two weeks between 1st June and 31st December, including winter stays. This promotion is an incentive for captains to create their Mediterranean charter itineraries to include Marina Port Vell, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the new hub and the Catalan region.
With both Marina Port Vell and Barcelona receiving exceptional coverage in major yacht and lifestyle media, we are sensitive to having enough space available to meet the needs of the sojourning yacht - Anella Alcott, Marina Port Vell’s Commercial Director
