Rather than wait for rollout of the planned "Digital Green Certificate" - EU's version of a so-called "vaccine passport" – in June, current plans are underway in Italy to introduce a "national green pass" which will allow its citizens to move freely through the regions, with a proposal from mid-May that this green pass will also be made available to tourists.

Portugal, Spain and Greece have also announced their own plans to open up to tourists from mid-May.
