In a bid to salvage its summer tourism season, Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi has announced the country is ready to open up to tourists from mid-May, which is welcome news for anyone wishing to book an Italian yacht charter around this beautiful region.

Rather than wait for rollout of the planned "Digital Green Certificate" - EU's version of a so-called "vaccine passport" – in June, current plans are underway in Italy to introduce a "national green pass" which will allow its citizens to move freely through the regions, with a proposal from mid-May that this green pass will also be made available to tourists.
Portugal, Spain and Greece have also announced their own plans to open up to tourists from mid-May.
Italy is one of the most popular hotspots for yacht charters in Summer and it is not hard to see why.
