At this year’s MYBA Charter Show, the annual ‘Destinations Panel’ turned their attention to Cuba, concluding that with the right infrastructure, the island nation could well become a popular choice for luxury charter vacations.
Moderated by the popular business personality Bransom Bean, the interactive panel held at the MYBA Charter Show 2016 was no doubt one of the more lively events in Genoa this year.
Responding to the strengthening political ties between the United States and Cuba, over 100 industry professionals discussed possible strategies for turning the Caribbean island country into a veritable superyacht hub.
Emphasizing the need to continually inspire charterers, Bean insisted that the ‘tropical and virgin cruising grounds’ of Cuba makes the destination entirely fascinating for visiting luxury yachts.
Attentive to the work ahead, as well as the island nation’s charms, Bean brought the panel to a close by explaining that ‘respecting Cuba’s rules and regulations from the outset is of the utmost importance to establishing a good and mutually beneficial working relationship’.
New destinations are as important as the yachts themselves
Recognizing the importance of opening up new grounds for charterers, Bean appears entirely correct in his estimation of Cuba.
Indeed, as a destination defined by a compelling history as well as an endlessly intriguing culture, Cuba has the enviable advantage of being fringed by typically Caribbean waters.
Seemingly fulfilling all of the necessary criteria to rank as a world-leading charter destination, and with greater diplomatic relationships being accompanied by industry-specific panel discussions, it certainly seems like the future is bright for Cuba.
