Great news for luxury yacht charters in Greece this summer have been announced: Greece has said it will start to welcome back visitors to its sun-dappled shores from May 14, easing COVID-19 restrictions that have been in force for months.
Greece has announced plans to open its borders on this date to travelers who are either vaccinated, have antibodies for COVID-19 or have recently tested negative for the virus.
The Greek government is hoping for a much-needed boost its tourism industry that has been badly affected by the pandemic. Usually, Greece's tourism sector accounts for about a fifth of the economy and employs approximately one in five workers.
Regarding the announcement, Greece's Tourism Minister Harry Theocharis said that:
“Greece is ready with a complete protocol for summer 2021. Tourists will be welcome if before travel they are either vaccinated, or have antibodies, or test negative. All tourists will be subject to random testing.”
Cruising to one of Greece's alluring island groups, from the mesmerizing beauty of the Cyclades to the idyllic Ionian Islands, is certainly an unforgettable experience.
