Expedition Yacht STEEL On Show At Yachts Miami Beach

By Rebecca Bradbury   11 February 2016

The extraordinary 55m/180ft expedition yacht STEEL will be attending Yachts Miami Beach, formerly the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, which kicks off today and runs until 15th February.

Guests attending the show on Collins Avenue, Miami, will be able to see the unique global adventurer STEEL berthed in the Island Gardens Deep Harbour in Dock 10-17.

Despite her bulky appearance, the ice-class expedition yacht is not a converted research or fishing vessel, but rather one of the most original and bespoke new builds from the UK’s Pendennis Shipyard.

Launched in 2009, she embodies her owner’s wish for a vessel capable of traversing latitudes more north and south than conventional superyachts dare to sail.

Her ice-classed A1 and MCA approved steel hull, therefore, allows her to sail head-on into any unknown territory and she has an incredible 5,200nm range, meaning she’ll run out of provisions before she runs out of fuel.

The yacht also boasts superb sea-keeping abilities due to her rounded stern underbody, which aids stability when cruising, and four Quantum Zero-Speed stabilizers, which substantially reduce roll at anchor.

What’s more, she is definitely not short of luxurious amenities. She features an extensive sundeck, an active-current spa pool and an extensive selection of water toys. While, inside, her unconventional layout offers Cuban mahogany and lacquer joiner work, a main salon with a fully-equipped gentlemen’s bar, a ‘tall’ dining salon and a gymnasium deck.

Able to accommodate up to 12 guests, she boasts one double cabin, four twin cabins and one twin cabin.

The luxury yacht is currently open for charters in the Bahamas and Caribbean.
