Expedition Yacht LUNA off the Charter Market for Winter

After making her eagerly awaited debut on the global charter fleet in summer 2014, the world’s largest expedition yacht LUNA has been reportedly taken off the charter market for the winter to undergo some refit works.

Standing at an impressive 115m/377ft, superyacht LUNA was launched by Lloyd Werft to worldwide acclaim in 2010 as a replacement for Roman Abramovich’s 112.8m/370’ explorer yacht ‘LE GRAND BLEU’. The Russian billionaire sold her to his friend Farkhad Akhmedov in 2014 and she was officially made available for charter for the first time this summer.

This understandably created quite a buzz on the market with many keen to experience her expansive living areas and comprehensive list of luxury amenities to include two helipads and a swimming pool. She is also one of few yachts authorized to accommodate more than 12 charter guests on board, with nine stunning staterooms offered for up to 18 guests and additional room for her crew of 49.

Unfortunately it looks now as though she will not be available for the winter charter season however there are plenty of superyachts vast in volume, luxury and facilities that are on offer. A number of vessels on the global charter fleet are among the largest luxury yachts in the world, such as the magnificent 162.5m/533ft ECLIPSE, also built for Abramovich, the 133.9m/439ft Fincantieri-built SERENE and the 117m/384ft TURAMA.
