The Superyacht Cup Palma 2015 is well and truly underway, with superyacht MARIE claiming victory this afternoon in the Balearics.
With perfect sailing conditions in Palma yesterday afternoon, the boats in Class A took to the water and 55m/180ft superyacht MARIE took first place, hotly followed in second place by fellow 46m/151ft Vitters yacht GANESHA and third place being awarded to 38m/125ft Perini Navi sailing yacht P2.
The other boats racing in the same category were S/Y Saudade and the much talked about S/Y 'Perseus^3' from Perini Navi - which was thought would place better on the day.
S/Y MARIE was recently crowned winner in a successful race at Loro Piana Caribbean in the Class 2 category and S/Y Ganesha, while just pipped to the post in this race, comes fresh from victory at the Dubois Cup earlier this year.
In Class B, the victor was INOUI, with second place going to ODIN and WINWIN taking third. Class C saw CLAN VIII take the top spot, followed by BLUE TOO in second, just trailed by MAEGAN in third.
The popular sailing event continues into its second day today with more exciting races to come.
