The 65th edition of Cannes Lions is now in full swing, bringing an exciting programme of award shows, hot topic talks, fringe events and superyacht showcases to the South of France.
Billed as ‘the world’s most inspiring creative festival’, Cannes Lions 2018 is a hub for major players in the branded communications, marketing, design, tech, media and entertainment industries.
Moving into day four, the annual event has even more talks, workshops, networking events, classes and awards ceremonies in store before it draws to a close tomorrow. Likewise, the glittering fleet of charter yachts in town for the festival will continue to form an integral part of the proceedings.
As always, a key part of the festival is the prestigious awards programme. Known as the Lions, the awards are the most coveted in the industry, and winners continue to be announced across the extensive range of categories, receiving an iconic gold lion trophy.
By the end of the week, hundreds of world-class thinkers, cultural superstars, award-winning creatives and brand leaders will have taken to the stage to discuss topical themes and ideas.
Sessions range from supermodel Naomi Campbell examining ‘Fashion as Cultural Influence’ to actress Thandie Newton and British Vogue editor Edward Enninful discussing diversity to panels debating ‘The Power of Big Tech Platforms’ to talks on branding, marketing and industry innovations.
Running alongside the content programme are a variety of official fringe events. Taking place in informal settings around Cannes, they include #TwitterBeach, Spotify Beach, the Girls’ Lounge at Hotel Martinez and Live Lunch with the FT.
Another big feature of Cannes Lions 2018 is the fleet of luxury yachts lined up in Cannes’ Old Port, conveniently located within easy reach of the Palais des Festivals, the main hub of the festival.
Decked out in bunting and branding, many superyachts here have been rented by leading companies in the creative and communications industries.
A corporate Cannes yacht charter offers an ideal base at the festival from which to welcome guests aboard and wow them with the impressive facilities and service at hand. There is surely no better platform on which to impress potential contacts and clients and to do business.
Charter yachts spotted so far include the 49m/159ft luxury yacht MENORCA and two Benetti builds: the 43m/140ft superyacht ‘H and the 35m/115ft superyacht ACCAMA.
Luxury yachts are even anchored off the coast, receiving Cannes Lions attendees to do business and network aboard. For example, Abeking & Rasmussen’s 78m/257ft superyacht C2 has been spotted. Unfortunately, this yacht isn’t available for charter.
