New images have been released of the 84m Feadship superyacht SAVANNAH completing her first sea trials in Rotterdam.
The transport of the world's first hybrid yacht - Feadship motor yacht SAVANNAH - from their Aalsmeer shipyard to Rotterdam began on 5 March and attracted large audiences throughout.
She had to negotiate several bridges and narrow waterways throughout her journey - with her length of 84m/274ft making the logistics of manoeuvring along shallow canals (some only as deep as 3.1m) a difficult task for her two assisting tugs and large barges, the latter of which provided uplift.
Following her arrival in Rotterdam, SAVANNAH later had her large propeller installed - 40% larger than the standard size of most superyachts - as she was unable to be transported through canals with it in place. Her first sea trials took place on 18 March in misty conditions, assisted by tug boat 'Louise van der Wees.' It has not yet been confirmed but yachting sources have indicated she recorded a maximum speed of 13.5 knots during the trials - powered by one million Watts of Li-ion batteries.
She was later joined by 102/333ft motor yacht SYMPHONY (project 808) - also believed to be joining the global charter fleet - and the 92m/302ft superyacht 'Royal Romance,' which are also undergoing sea trials.
Boasting state-of-the-art fuel efficiency and eco-friendly technology, SAVANNAH is one of the most innovative vessels of recent times to be built by Feadship. She will feature luxuries including an underwater lounge, several swimming pools and contemporary-styled accommodation for up to 12 guests.
M/Y SAVANNAH will be available for charter for a select clientele upon her delivery, for more information on renting her, or any other Feadship charter yacht, please contact your preferred charter broker.
