All the highlights from the 2019 Palm Beach International Boat Show

The 34th edition of the Palm Beach Boat Show wrapped up on Sunday, after four days of on-the-water action in the heart of West Palm Beach on Florida’s East Coast.

From March 28 - 31, Flagler Drive has been a hive of activity as visitors from around the globe descended on the 2019 Palm Beach International Boat Show. One of the biggest boat shows in the US, this year’s edition amassed around 200 boats, ranging from sportfishers lined up along the docks to shiny superyachts glittering under the Florida sun.

Alongside them, exhibitors from top shipyards were on hand to provide information about their latest models and concepts, and big-name brands from the marine and luxury lifestyle sectors were eager to show off their products and services.

A wide selection of superyachts were on display at Palm Beach Boat Show, with Abeking and Rasmussen’s 60m/200ft superyacht ‘Excellence V’ drawing in plenty of attention with her impressive size and midnight-blue hull. A highly saught-after option for private yacht charters, those who were lucky enough to step on board were wowed by her voluminous living areas and contemporary interiors.

Berthed in close proximity were Amels’ 55m/180ft charter yacht ELIXIR, showing off her sundeck jacuzzi and tri-deck living areas, and the 53m/174ft superyacht MIZU with her distinctive explorer-style profile. Another excellent charter option, she was turning plenty of heads thanks to her starring role in Taylor Swift’s End Game music video.

Also generating plenty of excitement, the 50m/165ft motor yacht BROADWATER was one of a handful of yachts at the show which was built by iconic Dutch shipyard Feadship. With her Donald Starkey-designed exterior, show-goers were eager to get up close to this stellar member of the charter fleet.

Plenty of other superyachts were on the line-up at the show, including Trinity Yachts’ 57m/190ft charter yacht SKYFALL, which was berthed next to Christensen’s 50m/164ft superyacht ‘Silver Lining’ along Ramp D.

The Tabletop Competition

Interior crews were put through their paces at the Tabletop Contest over the course of the show, which was held under the banner theme ‘Spring is in the Air’.

The stewardesses from a number of charter yachts entered the contest, with the crew from 51m/169ft ‘Lazy Z’, 49m/160ft CHASSEUR and 50m/164ft LUMIERE all participating.

Voting is still underway to determine which team will be crowned with the winning title, which will be announced on April 14.

Show-attendees were wowed by watertoy demonstrations, which gave prospective buyers an insight into how these state-of-the-art accessories perform on the water. Flyboards soared above the crowds, creating impressive loops and turns, while JetSurf demonstrations showed off their ultra lightweight, high octane capabilities.

In addition, the Windward VIP experience returned to West Palm Beach for another year, giving show-goers the chance to access an exclusive lounge area complete with a bar, pop-up boutiques and wine tasting session, all while having the opportunity to network with other show-goers.
