Located off the southern tip of the Mexican port city of La Paz, Isla Espíritu Santo forms part of an uninhabited volcanic archipelago that was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1995, and is now an important eco-tourist site.
The islands are part of the Islas del Golfo de California Flora and Fauna Protection Area, characterised by rocky formations created through centuries of volcanic activity, and now plays host to a diverse range of wildlife, both on land and in the sea.
One of the defining features, though, is its breathtaking tropical reefs, home to a vast array of marine fauna, including parrotfish, angelfish, rainbow wrasse, sharks, rays and turtles, making this an ideal scuba dive site on your yacht charter.
On land, the wildlife is no less impressive, especially the wealth of bird species, which include brown pelicans, snowy egrets, turkey vultures and hummingbirds among their number.
For beach lovers, the curve of white sands at Ensenada Grande on the sister island Isla Partida was voted the most beautiful beach in Mexico by the Travel Magazine, and one of the top 12 beaches in the world.
