Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi

1 of 10

The Lembeh Strait in North Sulawesi is a hotspot for muck dive sites playing host to a cornucopia of weird and wonderful creatures. Muck diving takes place in environments of black sand or silt and are a macro-photographer’s dream as the dark seabed reduces glare. Among the fascinating critters to be snapped in the Lembeh Strait are nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, pygmy seahorses, weedy scorpionfish, inimicus devilfish, pegasus sea moths and, endemic to the area, banggai cardinal fish.
