The Panathenaic stadium was built in the 6th century BC and restored for the first modern Olympic games in 1896 and is the only stadium in the world to be built entirely out of marble.

The stadium continues to hold significant cultural, sporting and ceremonial events. Seating 70,000 spectators, the stadium is now occasionally used for concerts and public events as well as morning joggers who are welcome here from 7:30am to 9am.
